This decision was made as a result of a defense review, which ended last week, and its results were transferred to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The review assessed the threats to national security and prospects for the development of the security environment were assessed; planning of forces and resources; the formation of perspective model of organization of defense of the state, Armed Forces of Ukraine and other and constituent forces of defense.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense believes that gaps in the capabilities of the Ukrainian army and the defense-industrial complex should be eliminated through the purchase of modern weapons from abroad, in particular, including the possible purchase of McDonnell Douglas AH-64 Apache helicopters, General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft, MIM-104 Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems and Javelin FGM-148F anti-tank missiles.
